+ How Do I Set Up an Appointment?

There are several ways to schedule an appointment, so you can choose the option that’s easiest for you.

You can call or text me at (970) 682-3947. I do my best to answer phone calls, but if you get my voicemail that means I’m either in session or simply away from the phone. Please feel free to leave a message on my confidential voicemail, and I will return your call as soon as possible.

Send me an email at soulthrivetherapy@gmail.com

You can also contact me through my secure online form under the “Contact” page on this site.

If you have any questions, just ask! I’m here to help. I deeply look forward to hearing from you!

+ What do i need to do before my first session?

After we first connect, I will be sending you an email with the paperwork needed to start our journey together. I will ask that you either complete those forms online before our first session.

The forms should take you about 10-15 minutes to fill out. These forms will provide me with some information about you, but also give you additional information about the therapeutic process with me.

I am always available via email/phone for any questions or concerns you have before we meet!

+What happens in the first session?

I invite all of my clients to show up exactly as they are. That means, feel free to be comfy! That's one of the nice things about video sessions :) Once we are in the session, we will go over any questions about the paperwork and then I will share some information about my therapeutic style, and what you can expect from our time together. You will then be invited to share your story. Our first session will primarily be a time to identify what brought you to therapy, as well as establish goals for therapy.

This early time is significant as I come to understand your history and any other contributing factors related to your therapy goals. This is also a significant time for you to decide how you feel about me! The fit between therapist and client is crucial, and I want you to feel genuine connection so we can do the best work possible together.

If all goes well, we will schedule your next appointment!

+ how often will we meet?

At the beginning of therapy, weekly sessions are suggested. This frequent meeting time is helpful in building our therapeutic relationship and will assist you in making solid progress toward your therapy goals. Meeting frequency can always be discussed and readdressed anytime during therapy.

Please feel free to let me know if you are wishing to adjust.

+Do you take insurance?

Currently, I do not accept insurance. Let me take a moment to explain why.

I understand that having health insurance can be important when you have medical issues and expenses. However, I strongly encourage you to consider the long-term implications before using your insurance for your therapy sessions. Using medical insurance for therapy has some risks involved. In order to use your medical insurance for therapy, you must be given a mental disorder diagnosis, and that diagnosis will become a part of your permanent medical record. Having a mental diagnosis on your record may carry long-term implications and may hinder your ability to obtain life insurance, disability or health insurance in the future. Additionally, filing an insurance claim means your diagnosis, dates of service, etc., are no longer totally confidential, and your insurance company will be aware of your treatment and diagnosis.

I want you to be fully informed of these risks and implications before you make a decision to use your insurance for therapy.

For individuals who completely understand the risks involved with being given a mental diagnosis, and who still want to use their insurance for therapy, I can provide a statement for you to submit to your insurance provider reimbursement.

All services are $150 (per 50-minute session)

*I do offer a limited number of spots for clients requesting a sliding scale fee. Please feel free to inquire if you are seeking financial assistance.

+ What if i need to cancel my appointment?

If you need to cancel your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled session time. You will be responsible for the full session fee when cancellations are received less than 24 hours in advance.

+ Will my sessions be confidential?

Yes! Confidentiality is a key component of the therapeutic relationship, allowing you a safe place to navigate life’s struggles. Your right to confidentiality will be carefully maintained and will not be disclosed without your written permission, except in cases of possible harm to yourself or others (especially children or the elderly) or a court subpoena.

Please note: In couples therapy, I do not agree to keep secrets. Anything disclosed to me may then also be brought up with your partner (except in cases of domestic violence or child abuse). Let me know if you have any questions about this policy.

+ Shouldn't I be able to handle life on my own?

Therapy has a stigma associated with it. We live in a society that tells us we should “have it all together,” and that if we don’t, we are weak or flawed. Therefore, I understand that asking for outside help may seem weird, but I encourage my clients to view therapy as a healthy decision to invest in your own present (and future) well-being. Think of it this way, if you knew your heart was failing – wouldn’t you do everything in your power to fix it? Mental health should be no different. Therapy is an investment in yourself that allows you to heal from past and present wounds, grow into your best self, and thrive every single day!
